Accreditation for strength grading of larch

05 2012

BOIS-LAB is a transnational project supported by the provinces of Turin, Italy, and Savoy, France, and partially financed by the French-Italian cooperation program ALCOTRA 2007-2013.
Microtec’s project partners are Agroselviter, a department of the University of Turin, the region Piedmont and the research lab CNR IVALSA in Sesto Fiorentino.

The European standard setting association CEN/TC124/WG2/TG1 officialized the accreditations of all Microtec strength grading solutions on April 13th, 2012. On top of that, Microtec resulted to be the only solution provider able to supply systems for the strength grading of green larix decidua with Viscan Compact and Viscan Plus.

Compared to the visual grading (see list below) the machine grading systems offer a large number of strength grading classes, such as C14, C16, C18, C24, C27, C30, C35, C40. The Microtec grading solutions are all accredited according to EN 338 and TR26, a particular class in Great Britain:

Viscan – Optical vibration measurement with laser interferometry procedure
Viscan Compact –Optical vibration measurement with laser interferometry procedure and industrial scale
Viscan Plus –Optical vibration measurement with laser interferometry procedure and an X-ray density meter Denscan
Goldeneye 702 – Multi-Sensor Quality Scanner with X-ray scanner for strength determination
Goldeneye 706 – Multi-Sensor Quality Scanner including X-ray scanner for strength determination in combination with Viscan laser inferometer.
