Microtec's presenter, Dr. Andreas Rais, explains, which procedures are applicable to grade lumber. The speaker describes how to get from logs to lumber.

To maximize the quality of the final product it is necessary to start in the woods sorting out logs before they get into the sawmill. If the quality of a log is excellent, the log shall be used for the production of veneer and will not be inserted into the production chain of a sawmill. Inside the sawmill, there are several grading processes and methods at all levels of logs and lumber, which are decisive for the quality of the final product. First of all CT Log and Microtec's Viscan Strength Grader for logs or lumber.

Dr. Andreas Rais

Andreas Rais describes his latest research results where he states how to grade lumber to increase the value output of the production in the wood working industry. The assessment of timber quality at any stage of the production chain promises to be an advantage for the forest and timber industry.
