Microtec sorting machines grade accroding to new UE standard for glued laminated lumber.

Starting on June 26th, 2013, the new European Standard EN 14080:2013 is available. The grading of the lamellas for glued laminated timber occurs on basis of the three specific properties: tensile strength, E-module and density. 

Microtec started over 10 years ago to grade glued laminated timber based on tensile strength so to obtain an optimised grading class. These so called “L-classes” achieve the requirements of the new standard “T-classes”, as shown in the table below:

The density requirements often even exceed returning better strength prediction of the finger joints. Strength classes, which do not consider density for the machine parameters (LS-classes), are no longer admitted.
