Goldeneye solutions for Berneck, Brazil

«Ruggedness, speed and measurement precision are key for high performance planer mills and manufacturers of construction lumber products. We have made sure that our customers have no need to compromise in terms of either throughput or reliability, and certainly not in terms of function.» states Microtec CEO Federico Giudiceandrea.

Berneck is a major company operating in the wood processing industry since 1952. With its establishments in Araucaria and Curitibanos, the company is the most modern saw and planner mill in Brazil and is considered to be the global technological leader of this branch.

In order to increase its production capacity, the company decided to invest in the machinery and software products of Microtec, such as ID Scan (board tracking system), M3 Scan (measures the moisture content of lumber and compensates the influence of density), Viscan (determines the MOE of lumber) as well as Variosort (sorter system). Most importantly, however, is the Goldeneye 800 Multi-Sensor Quality Scanner, determining the quality of lumber at a conveying speed up to 1,200 m per minute in longitudinal feeding. Its X-ray technology detects inner board defects (length and dimension of knots, cracks, pitch pockets, holes, stain, decay and wanes). This is, without doubt, one of the fastest lumber quality scanners ever installed in South America.
